Unissued British DPM Field Pants

Unissued British DPM Field Pants

British DPM is one of the most successful and influential camouflage patterns ever conceived. It was inspired by the handpainted WWII-era Dension camouflage pattern worn by British paratroopers and other special units.

Postwar, the British army moved away from camouflage until the 1960s. Since then, DPM has continued to return to service time and time again, sometimes altered, but almost always featuring iconic features of the original design. DPM was first developed in the early 1960s and first approved for general issue in 1968, making the UK the first NATO country to standardize on a camouflage uniform.

Unissued? These are seemingly deadstock S95 examples of the pattern; they share many construction similarities with MTP combat pants featuring waist adjustment tabs, a versatile poly/cotton blend, a load of pockets, and ankle cuffs. It's possible these uniforms were meant for use during medical training.
