Synthetic fibers have the unfortunate habit of melting and fusing to skin when exposed to high heat. This can prove rather uncomfortable for the wearer and can even be hazardous to their overall health. 

In an effort to combat this, these Nomex pants are meant to be worn under more substantial protective gear; the qualities of the material make for far less melty characteristics. These are great if you're looking for some added protection, with the additional benefit of being moisture-wicking and damn comfortable to boot.
