This is a genuine German Navy deck jacket, built from a 65% polyester, 35% aramid blend, the same fiber family used in flame-resistant firefighting and industrial gear. Ships are full of fuel, electrical systems, and equipment in tight, hard-to-evacuate spaces, so navies have issued flame-resistant work jackets like this one for exactly the situations where a spark or a small fire could otherwise become serious fast.
